EFFECTIVE EXAM PREPERATION

MRCOG Part 1 & 2 Practice Exam Questions

Practicing exam questions is an important part of exam preperation

Distributed practice and practice exam questions are highly effective revision techniques, combining the two elevates your retention and recall abilities.

Research has shown time and time again that practicing exam questions over a minimum 6 month period is far more effective in both short and long-term memory retention, it’s so effective that between 3 months and 6 months the duration of material retention is several weeks to several years respectively. A 12-month duration for practice testing and revision will give you the best chance for success.

7 Essential steps to passing your MRCOG exams

Steps 1-4 Creating a revision plan, and then following it through is essential for success

1. Assess your progress

2. Target your weak subjects

3. Schedule your revision

Having a plan is key to success in any endeavour, and that includes passing MRCOG exams. Knowing where you are now will help to plan what you need to do to pass your MRCOG exams

First Download the free comprehensive MRCOG syllabus checklist from the links below.

Second Assess the current level of knowledge and confidence topic by topic.

Now that you know where you are in your MRCOG revision journey, it is time to address the weak spots.

  • Make a list of all the red items, this is your ‘hit list’! keep it handy.
  • Go through this list, and take out each item, one by one.

Remember to do pratice question for each topic as you go.

For each topic or sub-topic:

  • Space out your learning with minimum 12-24-hour breaks.
  • Alternate challenging topics with easier topics
  • Factor in review sessions, reducing detail level as you go.
  • Allow time for doing past questions and mock exams regularly
  • Monthly review sessions until exam day.
